Hertfordshire-based lighting solutions manufacturer DW Windsor first approached Waste Mission to help manage scrap-metal recycling – but it quickly became clear that consolidating all its waste management under one provider could bring even greater benefits.
Now, through a single integrated partnership with Waste Mission, DW Windsor’s waste operations run more efficiently, with fewer collections, full compliance and measurable environmental and time savings.
The challenge
DW Windsor’s business growth, including major public-sector contracts, had significantly increased material turnover – particularly cardboard and other packaging waste. At the same time, regulations around hazardous materials and recycling were becoming more complex.
The company’s existing system involved several separate contractors and different waste streams being handled independently. This resulted in repeated, overlapping collections, reliability issues with some suppliers, build-ups of cardboard and hazardous materials on site as well as increased management time and administrative overheads.
DW Windsor wanted a solution that reduced complexity, ensured compliance and supported their environmental commitments.

An integrated approach
Having impressed DW Windsor with responsive, transparent service on metal recycling, Waste Mission was soon asked to extend its remit. The partnership grew to include cardboard, wood and packaging, aerosols, fluorescent tubes, cables, coolants and other liquid waste, adding WEEE waste, hazardous waste and batteries later.
This single-provider model provided full visibility across all streams, simplified reporting for audits and ensured consistent, compliant handling in line with environmental legislation.
Results and benefits
Bringing all its waste under one expert provider has delivered tangible advantages for the company, including:
- Simplified operations – One reliable point of contact and fewer contractor visits
- Compliance confidence – complete assurance that all waste types meet legislative standards
- Reduced carbon footprint – fewer vehicle movements from consolidated collections
- Improved site safety and organisation with fit-for-purpose containers
- Time savings – an estimated eight hours per month of reduced administrative work
Phil Wells, Quality Manager for DW Windsor says
“Waste Mission has solved several issues over time and provided valuable support to the business with the solutions provided to ensure we met regulatory requirements and legislation.”
